2025 Proficiency Badge Competition Relaunch

What’s new?

  • Can be shot concurrent with NSRA Postal Competitions

  • Cards can be shot over the course of 4 weeks, rather than a single day

  • Trophy reallocation with the opportunity for Affiliated and non-affiliated Clubs to win!

Our Proficiency Badge Scheme is open to all, with membership to the NSRA not required to enter.  It is a great way to gain a basic understanding of your current shooting level along with the qualifying score needed to get to the next level.  Levels are shown through a clearly defined Class system stating the minimum qualifying scores for each class. So, whether you are new to shooting or a seasoned shot, this is a great way to gauge your current shooting level!

Furthermore, your proficiency level can earn your Club points which can count towards trophies at the end of each year. See more details on the trophies to be won below!

Disciplines available are:

  • Air Pistol – 10 metre / 6 yard

  • Air Rifle - 3P

  • Air Rifle – Sporter (3P & Standing)

  • Air Rifle - 10 metre / 6 yard

  • LSR – Standing any sights

  • Pistol – 20 yard

  • Prone Rifle – Long range

  • Prone Rifle – Short range

  • Benchrest Rifle – Long range

  • Benchrest Rifle – Short range

  • Sport Crossbow – 10m / 18m

How much does it cost to take part?

  1. A set of stickers costs £3.00

  2. You will need to pay for postage to send your cards to the Scorer

  3. You have an option to purchase a badge relevant to you, these cost £7.00 each

What are the next steps for getting involved?

  1. Download the Sticker Request Form from here, fill in the details and return to competitions@nsra.co.uk

  2. We will then reach out to you and provide all the necessary paperwork and stickers so you can complete the Proficiency Badge Competition

Club Competition

Along with an individual scheme there is a Club competition with Challenge Trophies awarded to the Club with the highest number of points.  The trophies available are:

The Newark Challenge Cup will be awarded to the club/organisation gaining the highest number of points during the calendar year.

The National Roll of Marksman Shields will be awarded each year

Scout Proficiency Shield - Awarded to the Scout Club / Organisation gaining the highest number of points during the calendar year.

Cadet Proficiency Shield - Awarded to the Cadet Club / Organisation gaining the highest number of points during the calendar year.

Club Proficiency Shield - Awarded to the Civilian Club gaining the highest number of points during the calendar year.

Academic Proficiency Shield - Awarded to the school, college or university club gaining the highest number of points during the academic year (1st September – 31st August).
