2024 GB Dewar Postal Trials
As you will have seen in the Winter 2023/24 edition of On Target (issue 829), the Great Britain Rifle Team were incredibly successful in the Small-bore Prone Rifle International Postal Matches last year. It was a clean sweep, with victories for Great Britain in the Dewar Match , all three Drew Matches, the Randle Match, and the Wakefield Match. The Randle Match is organised by the NRA of America, who are responsible for publishing the full results.
The NSRA Rifle Committee are determined that 2024 will see Great Britain’s dominance continue, which will only be possible if the best athletes in the country are chosen as members of the Great Britain Rifle Team. With that in mind, if you are interested in helping your country to victory this year, please view the selection policies for the 2024 Dewar Match, Drew Matches, and Wakefield Match on the NSRA website (https://www.nsra.co.uk/competitions/international-match-info).The selection policy for the 2024 Randle Match will be published in the near future; the Randle Match is restricted to women athletes.
The Dewar Match continues to have postal trials as part of the selection process. Multiple entries are permitted for the 2024 Great Britain Dewar Team Postal Trial.
Entries for the Dewar Postal Trial, which close 30 April 2024, can be made via JustGo's Events and Courses button.
The course of fire is a prone Double Dewar (40 shots at 50m/yds & 40 shots at 100yds), the last day for shooting is Monday, 20 May 2024. Successful athletes will be invited to the shoulder-to-shoulder trial, which is scheduled to be shot on Saturday, 06 July 2024 at Appleton Rifle Club in Cheshire. Athletes named on page 7 of the Winter 2023/24 edition of On Target have already qualified for the shoulder-to-shoulder trial and do not need to enter the postal trial.
