"BEST YOU CAN BE"
The Commonwealth Games Federation released a press statement announcing the sports programme for Victoria 2026 that includes some shooting disciplines.
Overall, whilst it is disappointing for those disciplines excluded, it is positive that the sport has been included. It is also an exciting development that the programme includes para-athletes.

That piece of history was made on Monday 3rd October – on a day that GB secured gold and a silver medal in the individual junior skeet events.
Just a day later, the duo of Sophie Herrmann and Mitchell Brooker-Smith secured another gold for GB in Junior Mixed Team Skeet.
17-year-old Herrmann was exceptional throughout her individual event, finishing 2nd in qualification with a score of 112, first in her semi-final with a score of 22, and first in the final with a score of 30.
The individual silver medal came in Junior Men’s Skeet thanks to Mitchell Brooker-Smith who finished 3rd in qualification with a score of 121, first in the semi-final with a score of 26, and secured second place on the podium with 32 in the final.
The NSRA senior pistol squad was resurrected following discussions with Dave Froggett, as I felt that the senior NSRA male/female athletes should have their own training squad once again.
The former squad was disbanded when the banner of British Shooting was set up to administer international shooting with the purpose of winning medals at the Olympic Games. However, this focuses predominantly on athletes who are already showing potential and producing scores capable of winning medals at major shooting competitions – i.e. World Cups, World and European Championships, and producing scores that would earn quota places for the Olympic Games. Only when this level has been achieved by these athletes, by their own means, do British Shooting offer the level of support and funding for supportive services such as coaching, physio and sport psychology required for medal-winning international athletes.
HM the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Long Range Rifle Championship Finals took place at Sywell last weekend.
The Association has been deeply saddened by the news today of the death of our Patron, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Her Majesty’s long devotion to the country and Commonwealth, as well as to her family, served as an inspiration to all and set a standard that few could hope to emulate in their own lives.
The Association has been exceptionally fortunate to have had Her Majesty as its Patron for all but a few months of her 70-year reign.
With the Lead Ammunition proposals still being decided, please find attached a message for NSRA members and affiliated clubs, but please share for every shooter in Britain.
The GB Senior Olympic Trap team have secured two medals in Cyprus as Lucy Hall and Nathan Hales impress at the European Championships with a silver and bronze respectively.
As the arguments for and against the proposed ban on lead ammunition continue, it is important that we as members of a major NGB in shooting sports make our views known.
In response to the proposals from HSE regarding lead ammunition, the NSRA have produced a statement. Please find the statement below.
To obtain and keep Home Office Approval, target shooting clubs have to meet the criteria specified in the document issued by the Home Office “Firearms – Approval of rifle and muzzleloading pistol clubs.”
The attached guide below has been prepared by the Met Police and its firearms licensing Independent Advisory Group to help clubs to comply with the criteria in this document, a copy of which is included within the appendix of the attached booklet.
