Message from the NSRA
Just a quick note to say a big, “THANK YOU” to all those who took the time to complete the HSE Public Consultation on Lead in Ammunition.
From the recent meeting with HSE and the Environment Agency, it was clear that they were surprised by the scale of the response.
All our effort must soon turn to lobbying of MPs. Updates will be made to the original HSE Document in light of the Consultation which will then be turned into legislation to be voted on in Parliament.
We will post more information and guidance as the situation develops.
There are just a few days remaining in 2022 so please make sure you are ready to enjoy and participate in the sport you love in 2023. If you are an individual NSRA Member and need to renew then please use the following link to check the rates for next year and click through to the Membership Portal. ENTRIES CLOSE 30th DECEMBER 2022
If you’re looking to keep your eye in over winter ahead of the 2023 summer season, Worthing & West Sussex SBRA have the competition for you. The Winter Individual Postal Open offers 50m/yds, 100yds, and Dewar competitions for Prone (Iron Sights and Any Sights) and Benchrest smallbore rifle shooters. With the ability to shoot several competitions concurrently, there is plenty of flexibility to shoot as much or as little as you want. Each competition is shot in classes and there is a concurrent handicap competition for shooters in Class B and Class C.
Just over a week ago, we launched our Black Friday promotion in the NSRA Shop and the response has been far greater than we had ever expected. So much so that we took the decision last Wednesday, 23rd November, to temporarily close the website while we cleared the backlog of orders. The website will remain closed for a further temporary period. We have received well over 600 orders and we are pleased to confirm we are making progress in processing them all. Many will be posted today following two days of Royal Mail strikes. The aim of the promotion was to clear existing stocks and therefore this is why we clearly stated in all our communications the discount only applied to items in stock and while stocks last. Unfortunately, we are unable to fulfil orders at the discounted price if they are not in stock. In a number of cases, sales have exceeded stock availability so we are contacting the customers concerned and processing immediate refunds. You will not be charged for any product or service you have not received. We apologise for any disappointment caused.
Due to an unprecedented response to our Black November offer, we have taken the decision to temporarily close the NSRA Website Shop to enable staff to process and fulfil orders.
We are working through orders on a first-come, first-serve basis, and where items are in stock these will be processed and dispatched. If items are no longer in stock customers will be fully refunded.
The Shop in Lord Roberts Centre, Bisley continues to be open as normal, Tuesday to Sunday 9am to 4pm (closed on Mondays).

This is a postal competition culminating in a shoulder-to-shoulder final for each discipline.

Since last year all trade and retail operators have been grappling with securing ammunition supplies to sell to the Shooting Community. The situation has been exacerbated this year since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February. Consequently, demand is outstripping supply more than ever and we can only apologise for the frustration this is causing so many of you.
A global dearth of ammunition and components is something that will take some time to recover from particularly as the conflict is ongoing with no prospect of an end in sight. That said we will continue to pursue all possible options to secure ammunition stocks and our hope is we will have some positive developments to report before the end of this month.
Our apologies once again but please keep checking the website and social media for further updates.
There has been a change in anti-money laundering legislation which is being implemented by HMRC.
If a club has within its constitution (or other document) a clause whereby the property of the club is held in trust by a person or a group of individuals they will be affected.
This person or group are regarded as “property trustees” and fall under the legislation and be required to register with the trust registration service. This can be done on the government website at: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/register-a-trust-as-a-trustee
This applies whether the club pays tax or not but clubs that are registered charities are exempt from the legislation.
The legislation was brought in on 1st September 2022 but has so far been considered a soft deadline. It is unlikely that there will be penalties for registering late but we would strongly recommend registering as soon as possible to avoid any future action.

It is with regret and for a variety of reasons the decision has been made by the NSRA Board not to hold the 2023 Scottish Rifle Meeting at Lauder. The main factor leading to this decision is that the whole range was lost to storm damage, including the firing point cover, cattle fence and firing point surface. In addition to this, there are a number of holiday cabins being built within the current range danger area. We are working with the Castle to find another site for the range within the Estate grounds where the event could take place in the future.
For the past two years, Denwood Rifle Club has hosted the Earl Haig Scottish Championship. We are in discussion with the club to organise the 2023 meeting from Friday 30th June to Sunday 2nd July. Details of the event will be posted in good time.
The special awards committee has given a Gold Award Certificate and Medal to Bert (Alberto) Bertoloni.
Bert was very pleased and honoured to receive the award, he was the Head Coach for the Eastern Region Squad and helped many of the shooters that he coached gain Regional coaching qualifications.
