The Heart of England Community Foundation has recently launched it's Inclusive Communities funding initiative for the West Midlands. If you have social media, they are on Facebook and their website has further information.
It looks like a great opportunity for clubs in the area! Here's their blog on the new £9 million of Commonwealth Games legacy funding they are looking to distribute to grassroots projects.

It’s important that as many people respond as possible to put across the impact of any proposed changes to legislation on our sport and the people who take part in it. Every voice counts!
If you feel you need assistance with your response, please be aware, NGB's are creating a combined response which is currently being developed. As soon as it’s available, all the NGB’s will share it with all their respective communities.

On 17th September 2023 Richard Watchorn tendered his resignation as NSRA Joint Hon. Treasurer with immediate effect.
He had notified the Board earlier this year of his intention to retire and not seek re-election when his current appointment came to an end. This would have been on the date of the next Annual General Meeting. However, in the light of recent health issues he has decided to stand down earlier, a decision made easier by the appointment at the previous AGM of Martin Scrivens as the other Joint Hon. Treasurer.
Richard joined the Board of Management in September 2002 and took up the position of Treasurer in July 2004. His 21 years of service in these roles has been of tremendous value to the Association and has been greatly appreciated by his Board colleagues past and present.
Ian Burton has tendered his resignation as a member of the Board of Management with effect from 23rd August 2023. He originally served on the Board from 2011 to 2017, and subsequently rejoined in 2021.
Living in Kelso, Mr Burton was the leading local organiser of the NSRA’s most recent Scottish Rifle Meetings at Thirlestane Castle, Lauder, until the cancellation of the event from 2020 was necessitated by the Covid pandemic.
The Board is most grateful for his valuable contribution and advice over the last 12 years.

The closing date is 30th August, so don’t delay!
The National Rifle Meeting is very much a festival of small-bore rifle shooting, not just a competition. This significant event brings the UK shooting community together, with competitions for prone, benchrest, and three-positional shooters of all abilities. It remains the most popular event of its kind in the country and is hugely beneficial for target shooting across the UK. The meeting provides hundreds of shooters with opportunities to discuss the challenges they or their club are experiencing and to share their successes. This shared information spreads across the country and helps committees and coaches improve their club or local organisation to the benefit of our sport.
The Home Office has opened a consultation and seeks views on recommendations made to the government relating to firearms licensing.
The consultation is live at the link below ⬇️ and closes at 11:59pm on 23rd August 2023

There was a error in the list of Board Members shown on page 6 of On Target, Summer edition, which reached members last week. This was the omission from list of John Lloyd, the former NSRA Chairman, and sincere apologies are offered to him for the embarrassment caused.
The omission was an unforeseen reaction to an amendment made earlier in the article during final proofing.
The list of Board Members shown in the Reference section of the website has been updated to show the current position.
The Scottish Government is proposing to change the legislation relating to the temporary use of land for up to 28 days per calendar year, without planning permission. This proposal seeks to remove this exemption from being applied to shooting ranges for fixed targets.
This could have an impact on target shooting facilities, for example future NSRA Scottish Meetings.
The Scottish Government has opened consultation and this is now live and runs until Wednesday 23rd August 2023, which is the closing date for responses. The consultation can be seen at:
Section 6.2 and Question 30 relate to shooting ranges, and chapter 8 of the document explains how to respond to the consultation.
It is important for Scottish Clubs and shooters to respond to this consultation to reduce any potential impact on our sport.
The Home Office has updated its guidance concerning the approval of rifle, miniature rifle and muzzle-loading pistol clubs by the Home Secretary and the Scottish Government, available at the following web address as both a web page and a downloadable PDF:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/approval-of-rifle-and-muzzle-loading-pistol-clubs
It gives guidance on the approval of rifle, miniature rifle and muzzle-loading pistol clubs.
The guidance also explains the criteria and conditions which clubs must meet in order to obtain approval and remain approved.
The latest update, issued in April, added information on the role and responsibilities of gun club liaison officers.
