Calling lady members in your club!
You may have read recently the NSRA is organising a National Long Range Rifle Competition this summer, with regional events across the country followed by a final at Sywell, Northampton on the weekend of 11/12 September. In addition to the classed competitions, the regional events will be a selection process for this year's GB team for the Randle Trophy Match, with the match itself being shot on Sunday 12 September at Sywell - which is a departure from the usual way of selecting this team.
In a normal year, the Randle Trophy Match is fired at Bisley during the NSRA Meeting, the team being selected from the top scorers in the first two days of the Aggregate. In 2020, of course, there was no Bisley Week and with Covid restrictions worldwide the Match did not take place. However, the introduction of the new National Competition in 2021 makes it possible for us to fire the match this year, and team selection will be from the regional events.
This is the first (and probably will be the only) time that it is possible to qualify for the team without entering the Bisley Meeting; moreover, selection will not be restricted to X and A Classes, so a real opportunity for any lady shooter to qualify to represent her country in an international match, and I sincerely hope that you can share this message to anyone who could be interested.
As well as the team of ten and two reserves, we shall need to have wind-coaches for each shooter, and these too have to be female, so you may have ladies in your club who could support a fellow club member who qualifies for the team and I would love to hear from them.
The NSRA have generously offered to provide the team clothing for the Match, for which we are very grateful.
We won the Match in 2019 - and we can win it again in 2021!
GB Randle Captain
