A major upgrade for the St Ivo recreation centre in St Ives is set to get the go-ahead – but a shooting club which is losing its base in the redevelopment has asked Huntingdonshire District Council for around £30, 000 to cover its relocation costs.

Cheddar Valley Rifle Club picked up three prizes when the Somerset Small Bore Shooting Association held their cup finals at the Burnham on Sea range on Sunday.

Wick Old Stagers’ marksman John Sinclair has gained the senior individual indoor championship title in the Caithness Small-bore Rifle Association’s winter league finale.

We are aware that details of the scorers for Stage 2 of this competition were not included with the stickers, which were issued on 14 March. This information has now been sent to participating clubs by email or post.

Further to the News item published on 17th January, Stourport-on-Severn P&RC have announced a further programme of open competitions. The next dates are all Saturdays: April 28th for Multi Target, May 12th for Timed & Precision 1, June 9th for Multi Target. Somerset Small Bore Shooting Association held their Cup Finals at the Burnham-on-Sea range on 11th March. Teams from Cheddar Valley RC, Williton, Sedgemoor as well as individuals from Burnham on Sea RC, Frome RC and Westlands RC all took part in the finals.

The event was marked by some high quality target shooting and saw Cheddar Rifle Club teams win the Davey Cup and the Mullings Cup. Cheddar’s Pat Williams also took the Sally Lunn Ladies Trophy. The Curry Rivel Senior Trophy was won by a team from Sedgemoor and the Curry Rivel Junior Trophy was won by Ryan May from Burnham.

At the end of proceedings the Association President Eric Jones, complemented Burnham Club for hosting the event, Mike Griffin for scoring, Paul Upham for doing the leg work and Mike Monk for organising.
