Mid Wales RC, based near Rhayder, recently organised a fun shoot using laser target rifles. The event was filmed and will be televised on BBC Children in Need on Friday 14th November.

Everyone who participated was asked to make a contribution to Children in need. Young and old alike thoroughly enjoyed the event and not only were they able to try their hand at shooting but also at basketball and boccra. They were also treated to a visit by Chris Neil (Hawkeye), one of the top UK falconers, who brought along Froggett the owl and Maggie the harris hawk. The Mayor of Llandridod Wells, Councillor Phillips, spent a considerable time trying the various activities available. Despite appalling weather conditions and the fact that Wales were playing South Africa at rugby the event raised £130 for the charity and the club hope to raise more in the coming weeks.

Mid Wales RC is one of the first clubs in Wales to earn the Clubmark Award through the Federation of Disability Sport Wales They work in conjunction with Powys Disability Sports at Llandridod Wells Leisure Centre to give people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to try their hand at target shooting.
