The National Smallbore Rifle Association have been planning for the potential escalation of the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), and closely monitoring updates from the statutory authorities and Chief Medical Officers.
We are determined that it will be Open Normal Hours at Lord Roberts Centre, but instigating procedures to mitigate the risk of exposure to the virus for shooters, visitors and our staff.
The Spring issue of On Target magazine will be available shortly featuring reports, interviews and much more....
If your club has been affected by the ravages of Storm Ciara then help could be at hand. Sport England has invited community sports organisations to apply for grant assistance up to £5000 for emergency repairs. More information and how to apply can be found by using the following link.
The NSRA is currently identifying other potential assistance across all regions of the UK.
At the November meeting of the Shooting Council I spoke about the temporary cash flow difficulty that the Association found itself in due to the alteration of members’ subscription year end. This message has been badly misunderstood and the rumours circulating in social media are about the NSRA’s imminent financial demise. This is far from the truth of the matter.
In the Autumn Edition of On Target we published an article called UNDER THE HAMMERLI, featuring the Hammerli AP20 match air pistol. In the final paragraph we thanked Chrissie Monksummers, ISSF Coach, for importing the guns from Germany. We would like to make clear Chrissie is not an importer and the statement concerned was made in error.
The NSRA wish to apologise for this inaccuracy and sincerely apologise for any misunderstanding this may have caused. An apology to this effect will also appear in the Spring Edition of On Target.
At the NSRA Shooting Council meeting, held on 23rd November 2019, John Lloyd, an existing member of the Board of Management, was elected as Chairman of the Association by the Shooting Council following a proposal by Richard Watchorn the Treasurer of NSRA.
John has been a member of the Board for about twelve years and in that time has also been Chairman of the Pistol, Air and Crossbow Committee for the past eight years.
The NSRA would like to thank Stuart for his contribution which can be sung to the tune "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen".
Why are my hands so freezing cold
I can not feel the trigger
I've pulled a shot at four o/clock
It could be eight or bigger
I'm sure my hands will soon warm up
When I have left the range
Too late then to get a decent score
Too late then
Far too late to get a decent score.

With great regret it has been decided that the EGM due to be held at LRC at 10.30am on Saturday 14th December, be cancelled.
There is possibly an issue with the Charities Commission concerning the alteration of the objects clauses of the proposed new Memorandum and Articles and it would be unwise to proceed before it is definitely concluded. Also a number of members have made proposals to vary the proposed new Articles and it is felt that more time is needed to work through all these proposals.
No date has been set for the new EGM but it is likely to be in March 2020.
