Hattie, Adam and Ben each won £100 worth of NSRA vouchers for completing our recent Phase 1 Survey for NSRA Members and potential Members of the future. Nearly 4000 of you completed the survey, which was an amazing response and we thank you for your support.

Three winners

Don’t forget the Phase 2 Survey for affiliated Clubs, Counties and Associations closes on 26 October so if you are a Secretary and have already completed the survey then thank you. You are not alone as over 200 Clubs have already done so not to mention over 30 Counties and Associations. Please do take part as your views and ideas will help shape the future of the NSRA and the role we play in serving the Shooting Community. You too also have an opportunity to win a £100 NSRA Voucher for your Club. County or Association and this will be drawn after the survey has closed on 26 October.

If you are a Club, County or Association Secretary and want to participate in this vital consultation process then now is the time to do so.

Thank you in anticipation of your involvement, the Phase 1 Survey results are available in the latest issue of On Target or you can download a copy here.

In order to gather in as many completed surveys as possible from Club, County and Association Secretaries we have extended the closing date to 23.59 on Sunday 1 November. So if you haven’t taken the survey yet you still have time to do so. A number of Secretaries, when completing Phase 1, indicated their wish to take part in the next stage so we encourage everyone to do exactly that as the more contributions we receive the bigger influence you will have over the future purpose and direction of the NSRA.

If you are a Club, County or Association Secretary and want to participate in this vital consultation process then now is the time to do so.

Following the first ever virtual Shooting Council Meeting on 25 July and minutes that followed shortly after, the Board of Management felt it would be beneficial to publish a short summary of the key messages that emanated from the meeting. Please click here to read the summary which is part of our ongoing efforts to improve communication with our Membership and the wider Shooting Community.

Metropolitan PoliceThe Metropolitan Police have issued the following warning following a very serious crime involving a Firearms Certificate holder:-

On Saturday 5th September 2020 a licenced FAC holder advertised a gun for sale on Gun Star, one of the well-known sites for sales of lawfully owned guns. The advert was answered by two males and the holder arranged for a meeting at his home address. He cordially invited said males into the address where he showed the gun and his certificate. Sadly what happened next would have been a shock to any person.

The new Manager of NSRA Aldersley

Paul Horbury

My name is Paul Horbury and I’ve been involved with Small-bore shooting since my early teens...

It has come to our attention rumours have been circulating which suggest the NSRA has entered receivership. To be clear and to avoid any further misunderstanding this is untrue. Auditors have been working at our offices recently but this is to undertake the work required every year ahead of our AGM. It won’t surprise anyone to learn this work has been completed several months later than usual because of Lockdown. The AGM which normally takes place in July has been rescheduled for Saturday 28 November and the various notices and relevant information will be mailed towards the end of October. We hope this post clarifies the situation for you and please do share with fellow Club Members and Shooters.

We are pleased to confirm the following changes concerning the management of NSRA Aldersley. In March Tony Taylor retired and we thank Tony for his contribution in the role of Manager and his service to the NSRA. We wish him a long and happy retirement. He is succeeded by Paul Horbury who took over as Manager on 1 September. A short biography of Paul will be posted in the near future and we wish him well in his future role. Paul is already meeting key user groups, including the Bell Target League, and will be establishing as a matter of priority how NSRA Aldersley can best support all shooting disciplines.

Preliminary survey resultsPreliminary results are now available

It is little over a week since our first survey in the NSRA Organisational Change process went live. In that time more than 3250 of you have responded and we would like to thank everybody for this amazing effort. The same goes for the number of people you have shared the survey and with a closing date of 31 August fast approaching we would like to ask everybody for one last push. So if you haven’t already taken the survey please find less than 15 minutes today to do so. If you haven’t shared it with anyone yet then we will be enormously grateful for you to pass on amongst your shooting friends and club members. Even if you have done so then please share this post again in case anybody missed it first time around. Don’t forget there is a chance to win one of three prizes, each worth £100.00 of NSRA vouchers, for taking the survey and a grand prize of a Peli/Storm case of your choice worth up to £500.00 if you participate in every stage of the process.

Event Moved To Epsom Downs Racecourse

It is with great regret we have to announce the cancellation of the Kempton Park Arms Fair due to take place at Bisley on Sunday 23 August. With nearly 100 traders booked and good visitor numbers expected it is even more frustrating to have to cancel as a result of the restrictions imposed by the NRA. The event was first discussed early this year and since the onset of the Pandemic we have looked to adapt the Fair to make it Covid Secure. This is why it was to be held outside.

However we have been unable to secure the level of co-operation and collaboration required from our neighbours to enable it to go ahead. If events of the last few months have taught us nothing else then surely working together should be one. We feel particularly sorry for organisers. Pete and Liz Binfield plus their traders, supporters and friends. At least they have been able to save the event and Epsom’s gain is our loss in more ways than one. It is our hope this setback will prove to be temporary in our attempts to bring this much loved and popular event to the home of shooting.

Good luck Pete and Liz and we look forward to seeing you at Epsom on 23 August.

Now in its third year the ever popular Kempton Park Classic Arms Fair is teaming up with the NSRA and coming to Bisley on Sunday 23 August. Over 100 traders are expected and PUBLIC ADMISSION IS FREE. The Arms Fair will be outside to create a Covid-19 Secure Environment and will follow the same successful formula at Kempton Park’s recnt outdoor event. More details will be published in the next few days and the Arms Fair will include a number promotional offers and discounts available in the NSRA Shop. So while sadly there is no Bisley Week this year we do have a great show to put on and look forward to working with Pete Binfield and his team to bring the Kempton Park Classic Arms Fair to the home of shooting.
