Target Sprint Leader

British Shooting, in partnership with the NSRA invite all Target Sprint Leaders who attained their qualification prior to August 2021, to take part in a 1-hour refresher online session, in order to maintain their Leader Qualification.

Attending a 1-hour Refresher session will be compulsory for those who wish to keep their Target Sprint Leader Qualification. The sessions will be delivered via Microsoft Teams by Paul Langford, (Target Sprint Educator).

The session is based around introducing the Athlete & Coach Framework. This was compiled by British Shooting, who have brought together the content from coaches and practitioners across all Olympic and Paralympic disciplines and Target Sprint. Along with good practice and modern research from UK Sport, UK Coaching and CIMSPA.

The online 1-hour session is for people who have a current Target Sprint Leader qualification, and forms part of our ongoing support programme for coaches. The session costs £10 plus booking fee. (All those who attain their Leader qualification from August 2021 onwards aren't required to attend the Refresher course).

For those who don't wish to do the Refresher course, their Target Sprint Leader qualification will be replaced with a Target Sprint Organiser qualification.

The sessions dates are:

  • Tuesday 12th October 6-7pm
  • Thursday 14th October 6-7pm
  • Wednesday 20th October 6-7pm

Depending on demand, further sessions will follow.

Target Sprint Leaders Course

The newly designed Leaders Course is now back up and running, following it’s pause due to the Covid-19. The course is delivered by one of British Shooting’s Target Sprint Educators, Paul Langford, Doug Pepper, John Saint. Keith Anderson and Rob Shawyer.

On Sunday 29th August, the first course for 18 months took place at CRAI Scout Activity Centre delivered by Rob Shawyer. The course welcomed 12 new Leaders to our community and there are 17 signed up for November’s course at CRAI.

To become an accredited Target Sprint Leader you need to attend one of our one-day Target Sprint Leaders Courses and demonstrate that you hold a recognised air gun qualification.

At a minimum this is a NSRA: YPS Tutor (Air Rifle) or MoD: Small Arms (AR) (12) qualification.

The Target Sprint Leader bolt-on qualification will then enable you to deliver activity within the environment and context of your air gun qualification.
