The NSRA has for many years supported Junior National Squads for both rifle and pistol disciplines. The last development of these was the NSRA GB Talent Squads for both rifle and pistol which prepared shooters for an appropriate level of international competition and then on to enter the British Shooting World Class Programme National Academy.
British Shooting has now introduced squads which not only occupy the space in which the NSRA GB Talent Squads operate, but also a development layer below them. This obviously involves a number of the current performers at this level but also some of the coaches that support them.
These Squads are named the British Shooting Talent Academy and beneath it the British Shooting Development Academies.
We are about to launch Phase 2 of our series of Organisational Change Surveys. You will recall the first of these was sent to individual members and available to the wider shooting community so we could motivate as many responses as possible. Nearly 4000 of you did so and the results of that survey will appear in the next issue of On Target and online later this week. We were delighted with how many of you rose to the challenge so THANK YOU!
The last Briefing was penned at the end of last year before Covid-19 hit us. The note was full of promise for the 2020 summer season, Individual and Team leagues, Scotland and Bisley and the British Benchrest Championships.
Some of us have had the good fortune to be able to shoot Competition No.s 392 and 395, 50 metres and 100 yds. Rounds 1 & 2 finished at the end of August, leaving round 3 to be completed by the end of September.
The NSRA Competitions Department have taken the opportunity presented by Lockdown to catch up on producing the National Rankings documents (also known as Results Supplements). The Competitions Team are very grateful to volunteers who have generously given their time to help make this possible.
National Rankings for the Summer 2019, Winter 18/19 and Summer 2018 Postal Competition Seasons are now available to download and view from the NSRA Website -> Results -> Previous Results -> National Rankings
Upon completion of the Winter 19/20 Postal Competition Season the National Rankings document will be completed as soon as possible.
Along with our other Winter Competition Entry Forms we are pleased to confirm the Eley is now available online.
Our priority is to try and make up for lost time resulting from the impact of Covid-19. We are striving to offer as many competitive opportunities as possible but of course with a significant number of clubs still closed we can’t guarantee the entry and shoot by deadlines will be to everyone’s liking. We are doing our best and encourage as many shooters as possible to enter. The last thing we want to do is to have cancel any competition as a consequence of low entries and lack of financial viability. We greatly appreciate your support and week by week we are gradually increasing our capability to offer Competitions to our members and supporters.
Your Club, County or Individual Entry Forms for the Winter 20/21 Season. Entries close Wednesday 23rd September and the Eley Entry Form will follow shortly.
We are taking a greener approach so why not use the free Adobe Acrobat Reader DC to complete the PDF entry form (tick boxes, averages and signature), then email your completed electronic form to:
and call 01483 485540 to pay by Debit or Credit Card (Monday to Wednesday).
If you require a printed version of the Entry Forms please email or call and we will post one to you (no printed copies will be distributed with On Target magazine).
Disclaimer: We strive to provide a full calendar of Winter Postal Competitions but ask for your patience and understanding while we continue to operate with a small team. Insufficient entries to leagues and competitions may result in cancellation for the Winter 20/21 season so please get entering TODAY.
Throughout the Covid-19 Pandemic we have constantly kept under review the circumstances and factors surrounding the earlier closure of our offices and NSRA Shop as well as the ongoing closure of our facilities at the Lord Roberts Centre and Aldersley. In order to pave the way for a possible eventual reopening of those facilities we are going to conduct a carefully controlled trial at Aldersley over the next few weeks.
Aldersley is a significantly smaller centre and less complex in its configuration and management challenges. It is therefore a safer option to conduct a trial of this kind. We will be creating a Covid-Secure environment before any range is brought back into use. In doing so we will fully take into account our own published guidance since 1 June, which in turn complies with Government legislation and advice. Facilities will only be available to current members of the centre’s clubs and organisations taking part in the trial. Social distancing will be in operation plus other measures to protect public health.
Following the closure of entries last Friday, 14th August we are delighted to confirm the numbers for each competition.
We are also delighted to announce RWS are kindly sponsoring the 2020 International Matches and their support has been instrumental in offering free entry for all matches. The partnership between RWS and the NSRA has enabled these important competitions to continue and marks one of our first important steps as we emerge from the restrictions Covid-19 has placed upon us.
Good luck to all competitors and thank you once again RWS.
Dear Members, Club/County/Association Secretaries and Fellow Shooters
Throughout our 119 year history, the NSRA has continually strived to develop, support and actively encourage shooting sports across the United Kingdom. The shooting community has always been at the heart of the work the NSRA do. We, the NSRA, are determined to engage with you, the shooter, so that you and the sport you love will continue to be supported by a passionate and dedicated organisation for many more years to come.
The NSRA is delighted to support this exciting initiative and is looking forward to working closely with British Shooting in making it a great success. NSRA Board Member, Matt Guille, will be representing us on forthcoming webinars so we encourage any interested Shooters and Coaches to register as soon as possible.
In recent weeks we have been publishing results on the website instead of emailing them to County Captains. The reason for this is purely and simply a matter of limited resources and the fact that other than Sandra Smith, Competitions Manager, the rest of the Competitions Team is furloughed.
In light of this and to try and assist all concerned the date for Challenges will be moved back to 31 August. Please can you help us by returning your results as quickly as possible in order we can upload them on to the website at the earliest opportunity. We of course will appreciate the co-operation and understanding of all Shooters as we endeavour to deliver the best service we can in exceptionally difficult circumstances.
