The last Briefing was penned at the end of last year before Covid-19 hit us. The note was full of promise for the 2020 summer season, Individual and Team leagues, Scotland and Bisley and the British Benchrest Championships.
Some of us have had the good fortune to be able to shoot Competition No.s 392 and 395, 50 metres and 100 yds. Rounds 1 & 2 finished at the end of August, leaving round 3 to be completed by the end of September.
Looking forward to 2020 / 2021:-

British Benchrest Championships
This event has been shot at the Lord Roberts Centre, the course of fire being 60 shots each at 25 yds and 50 metres. The 50 metres being shot on electronic targets.
In 2019 we had only 9 competitors. I am not certain we can sustain the Championships with this number of competitors. How do we increase the numbers?
- Find another location?
- Move the event around the country?
- Have the Championships through the ranges: 25, 50 and 100, or just 50 and 100?
- Change the format?
50 Metre Benchrest Oversize "X" Gauge
An order has been placed for a small quantity of these gauges. We will post a note on our website when they are in the shop.
Benchrest Guidance Booklet
It is acknowledged that benchrest shooting is becoming more and more popular and that there is an urgent need to have a prescriptive document setting out all a shooter needs to shoot to NSRA Benchrest Rules.
The booklet will cover: the background, the rules, equipment, position, clothing, techniques, best practice etc. A small working group has been set up to see this published before the year end.
Chairman, NSRA Rifle Committee.
