The Lord Roberts Centre is the home of the National Small-bore Rifle Association, the governing body for all the small bore ( both .22 rim fire and air pistol and rifle) shooting in the UK.

The Lord Roberts Centre also has the largest (in terms of firing points) small-bore rifle and pistol ranges in the country supporting a wide range of shooting disciplines.

The following ranges are available to both NSRA members and non members. Non members are most welcome to use our ranges and can pay a day membership fee on top of their range hire.

The following ranges are available:

25m outdoor

25 mm outdoor

This range is suitable for both standing and bench rest .22 rim fire and air rifle shooting as well as .22 rim fire and air pistol. Although it is an outdoor range the firing points are covered, so (subject to the weather) it can be used all year round, just wrap up well in the winter months. Subject to relevant permission being granted it can also be used as a section 5 firearms range.

25 yard indoor

22 mm indoor

This range is suitable for both standing and bench rest .22 rim fire and air rifle shooting as well as .22 rim fire and air pistol. Being indoor it is available all year round. The range can also be used as an indoor 25m range.

One of our unused 50m outdoor bays has now been adapted to provide four firing points for 50m bench rest air rifle shooting (.177/.22 up to 12 fp, 16J). Four sets of ‘knock down’ targets are available with a static paper target above each ‘knock down’ target for sighting in your rifle.

50m electronic outdoor

50m electronic outdoor

The 50m range is outdoor with indoor covered firing points (with ambient heating). Up to 32 firing points are available for large competitions, typically we have 8 to 16 firing points available to hire. This range uses Sius Ascor electronic targets and offers a range of ISSF disciplines, including prone rifle, 3P and free pistol. Only single shot .22 rifles and pistols are permitted on this range and visitors are expected to shoot to a good 'club' standard.

6 yard/10m whizzers indoor

50m electronic outdoor

We have two 'whizzer' ranges (so called as the targets are attached to strings that 'whiz' between the firing points and target holders!). Both ranges are suitable for low powered air pistols and rifles. For beginners we recommend starting on the 6 yard range then moving to the 10m range as your confidence and accuracy grow.

10m electronic indoor

50m electronic outdoor

On the first floor we have one of the largest indoor 10m ranges in the country with up to 35 firing points available. This range uses Sius Ascor electronic targets and supports both ISSF pistol and rifle disciplines. Only match air rifles and pistols are permitted on this range and visitors are expected to shoot to a good 'club' standard

Hockey Rink

50m electronic outdoor

On the first floor of the centre we have a full size roller hockey rink.

Inline puck hockey teams from all over the south of England train at the Lord Roberts Centre and both BIPHA and BISHA hold regular weekend competitions here.

Follow this link to see the current BPHA fixtures being played at the Lord Roberts Centre.

Not only is the rink used for inline hockey, it can also be adapted for use as a lacrosse court, five-a-side football and many other activities requiring a large purpose built arena.

Rink hire is based on an hourly rate. Please call for rates and availability on 01483 485522. We welcome regular bookings weekly, fortnightly or monthly from roller hockey teams.

Meetings and event spaces

We have several meeting rooms available for meetings from 2 to 30 people in a range of formats together with a mezzanine floor suitable for use as an exhibition space. Our ranges can also be reconfigured as meeting and event spaces from 100 to 400 visitors. Please contact us with your requirements and we'll be pleased to show you around.
