Those of you who entered the above meeting, scheduled for 22nd -24th September, will already have received notification that the Championships have been cancelled. We hope that entrants, and NSRA members alike, will appreciate that this is not a decision that has been made lightly and is one which has been taken with much regret. In spite of extending the entry deadline, and sending reminders to previous participants, at the revised closing date only 72 entries had been made.
The 2016 Championships attracted 94 entries which left us with a significant loss to the charity. To approach a financial breakeven situation we need approximately 125 entrants. The NSRA has continued to support this Championship for a number of years when the entry has been lower than we would have liked or can afford. This year with a much smaller entry we would have incurred an unsustainable loss which as an organisation we can no longer financially underwrite as we have done in the past. Full refunds will be sent to all entrants. The Pistol, Airgun & Crossbow Committee will assess the competitions offered at this Championship and the timetable for the event, with a view to making the competition more attractive, as if we can generate more entries this in turn should guarantee the future of this Championship.
